Conjunction

I haven't been paying much attention to astronomy lately, so while I had noticed the recent proximity of Venus and Jupiter in the evening sky, I wasn't aware that the moon was about to wade into the situation. Clare and I were amazed when we noticed it on the way home yesterday evening. The moon was extremely close to Venus at the time - one of the few objects not drowned out by the moon's light - but was already receding. Unfortunately I don't currently have a tripod, and so I only managed one picture where I held the camera steady enough for the long exposure required, which was taken an hour and a half later as the scene was close to setting and the moon had turned orange:
