Tuesday is try something new day for MoFo. And not just try some new recipe or try to cut my carrots in a different way, it needs to be a bit more involved then that. If there is one thing that I've been putting off trying for a long time. One thing that I bought specialist equipment for that's just been lying around. One thing that I had the ingredients delivered for and then ignored for months on end it's this:
Yes sushi. To achieve my cute little carrot and avocado rolls I pulled out each of my recipe books with a sushi recipe, and read the back of all my packets for extra tips. I ended up cobbling it together a bit. I followed the instructions off the back of the rice packet for the rice, seasoned it to the instructions from the vinegar bottle and rolled it mainly with the aid of How to Cook Everything: Vegetarian.
And let me tell you it it wasn't all that hard. With results this impressively adorable you would expect hours of toil and the type of attention to detail that I, frankly, can't be bothered with. But after the first roll or so it's actually quite intuitive. The hardest part of the process is having the same conversation about weather or not sushi can be vegan over and over again.
Moral of the story: give it a go.
